We are looking for a Research Associate to support West of England Sustainable Technology Scale-Up Programme, funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The programme will support businesses from the fields of low carbon and sustainable technologies in the West of England LEP area through engagement, translation of research, training, and incubation.

About the role:

You will carry out sustainability assessments and in particular carbon savings assessment, technical business development, engagement activities and research project development associated with the programme. This will relate to the technology and sustainability needs of small and medium companies, aligning and developing new sustainable technologies, assessing carbon savings, and developing collaborative technology development opportunities with appropriate researchers from the University of Bath, in particular those from the Centre for Sustainable and Circular Technologies (CSCT) and the BRE Centre for Innovative Construction Materials, as well as other appropriate academics from the other SETsquared Scale-Up partner Universities.

You will be working with Prof. Davidson, and other academics at Bath as appropriate, including, Prof. Pete Walker, Prof. Tina Düren, Prof. Marcelle McManus and Dr Steve Allen, will also coordinate and support the integration of student design and research projects into the activities of the programme.

This is a full-time post for a fixed-term, with an expected ended date of 30/06/2023.

Our ideal applicant will be able to:

  • Understands how to conduct carbon saving assessment and research using appropriate research techniques and implementing new research methods
  • Assess carbon savings, and analysing, interpreting, and presenting research data to generate outcomes
  • Create effective working relationships with colleagues and students across the Research Centres, the University and with delivery and business partners of the Programme
  • Effectively manage own workload, research resources and administrative activities
