This is an exciting time to be joining the Faculty of Science in a new role which will make a significant contribution to the successful running of our busy and vibrant Departments.

Reporting to the Director of Administration, and with regular interaction with the Head of Department, you will have responsibility for effective and operational management to ensure the smooth running of a Department. This rewarding role will have a focus on people and resources but will undertake a wide range of activities to support the delivery of the Department and Faculty’s strategic objectives.

You will also play a lead role in new initiatives at Department and Faculty level and will support the Director of Administration and Operations & Project Managers in their roles.

You will have the ability to work at a strategic level but with an operational focus, both in business as usual and also in ensuring responsiveness to change and to act as a key channel of communication between academic staff and professional services staff, both within the Department, Faculty and across all University offices.

With a proven track record in an administration role, preferably within a Higher Education environment, you will have strong interpersonal skills, with excellent time management, organisational and communication skills with enthusiasm for, and commitment to, high quality service provision. You will be able to demonstrate knowledge of financial processes as well as HR policies and procedures. The abilities to think and operate autonomously but to be an excellent team player are also key.

Applicants wishing to work full-time or part-time (0.8 fte/29.2 hours per week) are welcome to apply and the role will be a mix of remote and on-campus working (Hybrid working)

For an informal discussion about the role please contact the Amanda Harper, Director of Administration (bssalh@bath.ac.uk) or Cath Haines, Faculty Operations & Projects Manager (ch354@bath.ac.uk).
