Join our newly formed Research Governance and Compliance team created as part of our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of research excellence and integrity. In this pivotal position you will report into the Head of Research Governance and Compliance and play a key part in influencing the approach to research integrity. You will also have the unique opportunity to provide support for the implementation and further development of the research ethics online system.

About the role:

Working with the Compliance and Assurance Manager and Research Ethics Officer you will be implementing best practice through training staff, providing advice and engaging widely with stakeholders to ensure high research integrity standards are achieved across the University. You will also be: 

  • Advising on research integrity and how it should be applied at the University
  • Ensuring that our standards are embedded in research across the University
  • Working alongside the Research Ethics Officer, to help to develop, implement, support, and monitor operating processes and administrative systems related to research integrity across the University
  • Championing key initiatives; engaging with stakeholders across the organisation, to build a culture of responsible research practice that is responsive to national agendas
  • Providing advice and supporting staff in relation to a range of policies applicable to research integrity, research ethics and governance
  • Providing input to institutional and external audits, including drafting the annual statement on research integrity and the report to the US Office for Research Integrity

About you:

With detailed knowledge of research integrity and governance standards and issues in a research-intensive environment you will have:

  • Worked in a research-intensive Institution
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to influence a wide variety of stakeholders including senior academics/management
  • Experience in drafting policies applicable to research and funder requirements
  • The ability to perform effectively under pressure, plan and prioritise work requirements and good personal organisation and time management skills
  • Self-motivation and enjoy working as a member of a dedicated team in a fast-paced environment often juggling conflicting priorities
