About the role

This is an exciting role, established as part of the University’s Access & Participation Plan, and will be appointed on a Fixed Term Contract basis in the first instance on a maternity cover basis until July 2020.

Working between the Skills Centre and the Department for UG Admissions and Outreach alongside colleagues in Faculties and academic departments, you will work proactively with key stakeholders to design and deliver a range of promotional materials, skills tasters and workshops. You will also deliver some face-to-face activities alongside the Student Recruitment and Widening Participation teams, in addition to the provision of training and tools to better equip them in their own work.

About You

You will already be working in the higher education sector in a role that encompasses at least some skills elements - academic, languages or personal development for students. A learning and teaching and/or recruitment/marketing background will contribute to you being well placed to fulfil this role. You will be a first-class communicator, written and verbal, with outstanding skills and proven experience in stakeholder engagement and management, as this aspect will be key to the success of this exciting new role. You will be able to demonstrate your ability to work independently and manage ‘virtual/cross-institutional projects’ together with a range of University in a highly flexible and dynamic way.

You will also need to bring sound experience in the development of high quality and engaging marketing materials, using a range of different media, together with the creative generation of ideas and the organisational skills to bring these to successful fruition.

Although you will be based primarily in a progressive and successful Skills Centre, comprising 60 full and part time staff, delivering a wide range of academic and language skills to the University of Bath’s student community, you will work closely with many other teams. You will be required to do some travel within the UK, and potentially overseas.

As this post requires working with children, the successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced disclosure and barring service (DBS Check).

Benefits:

You will also be entitled to a very generous 19.5% employer contributory pension (8.8% employee contributions) as well as the following employee benefits:

  • 39 days holiday pro-rata, (annual leave, discretionary days and bank holidays)
