The Research & Innovation Services oversees the development and implementation of the University of Bath’s strategic research priorities and managing research systems and reporting requirements. The Portfolio supports the research activity of staff and student researchers with professional development, collaboration and funding opportunities, ethics and responsible conduct compliance, contract development, intellectual property, project completions and profiling.

The Role and Your Responsibilities

The Research Commercialisation Officer will work within the Research Commercialisation and Enterprise Team to implement the University's goals, achieving objectives and deliverables in line with the broad University strategy. You will be responsible for assisting to improve the University of Bath’s impact through protecting and commercialising intellectual property and research outcomes. This includes identifying research to be protected and providing advice on IP and commercialisation matters to researchers at the University of Bath. You will build internal and external networks to identify opportunities for commercialisation, and undertake market research and license negotiations.

Skills & Experience Required

The successful candidate will have a relevant degree and/or experience with commercialisation in a University or organisation and professional skills in building internal and external networks in relation to commercialisation of intellectual property.

With demonstrated success in project management including planning, resource allocation, communication, implementation, negotiation, evaluation and reporting you may also have experience in negotiating commercial and legal arrangements for commercialisation.

You must have the ability to prioritise and manage multiple assignments, and efficiently manage multiple requests for information and assistance and to work under pressure of various deadlines.

Experience in the patenting process and working with legal agreements would be advantageous.
