The Department of Mechanical Engineering requires a highly skilled, adaptable and self- motivated Toolmaker / Technician / Skilled Machinist to provide technical support to the Mechanical Services Main Workshop.

In this role you will be responsible for providing technical advice, instruction and support to academic and research staff and students in the mechanical services main workshop and support laboratories. You will also support our student automotive race teams including both mechanical and electric powered race cars and our electric motorcycle team, providing both technical and manufacturing support.

To be successful in this role you should have substantial experience in CNC programming and machining and conventional precision machining disciplines. You should also possess a working knowledge of CAD / CAM processes. We require someone with substantial experience of working in an engineering machine shop or toolroom environment using both CNC and conventional machine tools and associated equipment. The ability to undertake welding, brazing, sheet metal and fabrication work would be an advantage but not essential.
