About the role

The duties of this busy and varied role include leading the process for selecting students eligible for relevant Scholarships and Bursaries (S&Bs) and you will use your experience of working in a finance (or similar) role to manage the technical aspects of allocation of funding including ensuring data is up to date on the student management database. 

You will manage the process of reviewing and reporting on the S&B portfolio, this will include the evaluation and analysis of the S&Bs and reporting to people at all levels of the University. 

Working in close liaison with other teams in the department and with other departments in the University you will ensure that good practice and regulatory requirements are met in the marketing, application and allocation of awards managed by the team. 

About you

The successful candidate will be an effective team player who can liaise professional with a wide range of people, including students, staff, and visitors at all levels. You will also have:

  • An eye for detail and be highly organised
  • Experience of working in a busy environment with competing demands
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to understand, interpret and recall legislative and financial award frameworks.

About the Team

Sitting within the Undergraduate Admissions and Outreach (UAO) Department you will lead the Scholarships and Bursaries (S&B) Team managing the S&B Officer to achieve the planning and delivery of the S&B portfolio. 

As a team you will be responsible for the administration, organisation and allocation of funding that supports under-represented students who are progressing into university, as set out in the University of Bath’s Access and Participation Plan. In addition, the team supports the administration of some philanthropic awards targeted at under-represented students in partnership with the Department of Development & Alumni Relations.

The Department is responsible for some of the goals set out in the University's Access and Participation Plan. The Scholarships and Bursaries Team is key to the delivery of the supporting under-represented students through providing a generous package of financial support.

This role is part time 21.9 hours week (0.6 FTE, 3 days per week).
