The Department of Electronic & Electrical Engineering is currently recruiting for a Senior Teaching Fellow in Robotics and Autonomous Systems, a joint appointment with the Department of Computer Science. The post is part of the University’s investment in its expanding multi-disciplinary robotics teaching and research and will have a major role in our new MSc Robotics & Autonomous Systems and its sister programme MSc Machine Learning & Autonomous Systems (Department of Computer Science).

Applicants should hold an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline and, ideally, a PhD and a higher education teaching qualification or professional recognition. The Department has a strong record in both research and teaching and close collaborations with industry. 91% of its research activity was graded as either world-leading or internationally excellent in the Research Excellence Framework 2014 and it is consistently very highly placed in the National Student Survey, for example 95.76% Overall Satisfaction in NSS 2017, ranked 4thin the UK.

In addition to a full CV, applicants must provide a teaching statement of up to 4 pages to cover their teaching background and experience, and explicitly state which modules in the new MSc they would be able to deliver. The ability to also contribute our new MEng Robotics Engineering would be an advantage, see http://www.bath.ac.uk/departments/department-of-electronic-electrical-engineering/for full details of our degree programmes.

The post-holder will join a successful and expanding department and benefit from the peer support of a large group of Early Career Researchers, in additional to senior staff. The University of Bath is based in an attractive campus on the edge of the World Heritage City of Bath and offers the lifestyle advantages of working and living in one of the most beautiful areas in the country.

Prior to drawing up a shortlist, potential candidates may be invited to visit the Department to meet staff and give a presentation on their research and teaching interests (this will be by Skype for international applicants).

We encourage the development of a diverse and inclusive workforce and offer excellent benefits, with options for flexible working. Female applicants are particularly encouraged to apply.

For an informal discussion about the positions, please contact Dr Adrian Evans, Head of Department on +44 (0) 1225 386330, email a.n.evans@bath.ac.uk.
