Designability is independent not for profit, design and development organisation working to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities and healthcare problems.

We are looking for a part – time production unit Technician to carry out a range of mechanical engineering tasks relating to the production of a variety of assistive living products and fabrication of engineering design prototypes.  The role also requires regular driving of company van for deliveries and collections.

The post holder should have NVQ level 1 in Performing Engineering Operations (or equivalent), with GCSE Maths and English, a commensurate level of 'Hands-on' experience of a range of mechanical engineering processes, be careful and methodical worker with good attention to detail. The post holder should also have a clean driving license and needs to comply with the vehicle insurance requirements.

The post will be based in the premises of Designability, Dept. D1, Wolfson Centre, Royal United Hospital, Bath, BA1 3NG.

The role is part time (22.5 hours per week) to be worked over 3 days; and the successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services (DBS) check.  The post is being offered on a 2 year fixed term contract basis.
