Lectureship in Aerospace Engineering 

The Department of Mechanical Engineering is seeking to recruit a talented and enthusiastic Lecturer (Assistant Professor) to conduct aerospace research and teach undergraduate topics related to aircraft. There are a number of aerospace-focused research groups and centres within the Department, encompassing aerodynamics, acoustics, aircraft structures, rotorcraft, spacecraft, computational fluid dynamics, aero-engine propulsion, aerospace fluid power and systems, aircraft design, and wind-energy. The candidate will be expected to bring new expertise which aligns with existing research. 

The applicant must be able to demonstrate the capability to conduct independent and/or collaborative research within the scope of Aerospace Engineering, obtain external research funding and publish high-quality research papers.

Any applicant must provide a four-page outline of a potential research grant application and be prepared to discuss this at interview. Typically this application would be aimed at the EPSRC New Investigator Award and it would be expected that the successful Lecturer (Assistant Professor) submit this within the first year of the appointment. 

The appointee will lecture MEng students on undergraduate aerospace programmes. The Department puts a great deal of emphasis on its design and student-research projects, and the appointee will be expected to participate fully in these teaching activities.
