The Department of Psychology at the University of Bath is completing a significant expansion. Research in the department occurs across more than six major sub-disciplines in psychology, including clinical, cognitive, developmental, environmental, health, and social, using diverse methods from psychology and neuroscience in a new purpose-built five-level building, containing two floors of state-of-the-art labs for interview, group observation, EEG/ERP, virtual reality, psychobiology, eye-tracking, pain, cross-modal and computerised testing.

This post will support our new MSc in Applied Psychology and Economics, which informs students how Psychology and Economics can be applied to a wide range of real-world behaviours.  Applicants must have the capacity to research and teach in applied cognitive decision making at postgraduate and undergraduate levels and demonstrable ability to provide postgraduate analysis, methods, and design training, potentially including statistical and mathematical modelling and methods from cognitive neuroscience.  The post-holder should be able to research and teach in collaboration across disciplines, including Psychology and Economics in particular.

The Department has an established tradition of ‘theoretically informed applied psychology’ and we are seeking applicants with demonstrable research quality and impact. In the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF) exercise, staff were returned in different units of assessment, the largest of which (Allied Health Professions) obtained the highest REF2014 rating across the whole University. The University was ranked 12th overall in the UK in REF2014. The Department was recently ranked 1st in the Guardian league table and 2nd in the Complete University Guide, and The Times Good University Guide.  More information about the Department can be found at http://www.bath.ac.uk/psychology/.

The University of Bath is situated in the beautiful World Heritage City of Bath and is part of the GW4 group of leading Universities (with Bristol, Cardiff and Exeter). Bath is also a member of the ERSC-funded SWDTC. Bath is 15 minutes from Bristol by train and 90 minutes from London and Oxford.

Informal enquiries can be directed to the Deputy Head of Department, Professor Julie Barnett (j.c.barnett@bath.ac.uk; + 44 (0)1225 383167) or to the Head of Department, Professor Greg Maio (g.r.maio@bath.ac.uk; +44 (0)1225 384647).

As part of the application process, please state on the application form which post you wish to be considered for (Lecturer, Senior Lecturer or Reader).

Interviews are anticipated to be held 27 February 2018 and 1 March 2018 (TBC).

The University of Bath has a bronze award from the Athena SWAN Charter Scheme. Both the Department and the University are committed to providing a supportive and inclusive working environment.
