The University of Bath’s Hospitality department within ahs isn't just about student catering. As well as catering to students and staff, we host large conferences and banquets throughout the academic year and during the summer months. Our customers are as diverse as our food. We have multiple outlets on campus and expanding.

Our staff are key to the success of our thriving Hospitality business and you will support a team of chefs with the production of high quality food, ensuring cleanliness and health and safety standards are met. Demonstrating a passion for cooking high quality food, you will have previous experience of working as a junior chef.

We currently have a full time (36.5 hour) and part time (20 hour) positions, working on a 5 over 7 day basis. Typical shifts for the 20 hour position will be 4 hours long between 10:00-14:00 or 17:30-21:30 during our busiest periods. However, you may be expected to work outside of these hours where necessary.

We have a vacancy for a Commis Chef to join our team based predominantly in the Parade Bar. This is a busy and vibrant working environment which produces high quality food for students, staff and visitors. Come and join our team as a Commis Chef... You will not see any school dinners here!

Demonstrating a passion for cooking high quality food, you will have previous experience of working as a junior chef. An NVQ in Food Preparation would be a distinct advantage. You should be comfortable with working in high pressure and varying environments and have a positive attitude, demonstrating an ability to form effective working relationships with other team members.

As well as your chef skills, we're interested in you and your personality; we need real team players who are keen to learn. This is a busy and challenging role, but we offer great opportunities to progress with our team of talented chefs.

The role includes early morning, evening and weekend working on a 5 out of 7 days per week contract.

We offer a generous package of pay, benefits and services including:

  • A competitive rate of pay
  • A generous pension scheme
  • Up to 25 days annual leave per year, eight banks holidays and five extra discretionary days
  • A 36.5 hour week and no split shifts
  • We close over the Christmas break but you’re still paid for this time off
  • Regular awards for shining stars, from Love2Shop vouchers up to annual awards!
  • A commitment to the wellbeing of our teams, with mindfulness sessions, fitness boot camps and free health checks
  • Great staff social events
  • A staff suggestion scheme, with the chance to share your ideas and earn vouchers!
