The Westwood Nursery at the University of Bath are seeking a highly motivated and ambitious Nursery Assistant to join our team on a full time basis.

You will support the team in providing care and education to young children between the ages 6 months to 5 years.

About you

To be successful in this role you must have:

  • Relevant First Aid Certificate
  • Existing childcare experience
  • Good levels of communication (written and verbal) between staff and with children
  • Excellent team working skills
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations

Candidates who hold a minimum NVQ 2 in Childcare & Education would be highly advantageous but this is not essential as full training and support will be given.

You should be a good team player with sound communication and organisation skills to ensure a smooth handover of duties and care.

You should have an understanding of the EYFS curriculum with the ability to support the development of our children.  Relevant childcare qualifications in accordance with Ofsted requirements at NVQ Level 2 in Childcare and Education minimum.

About us

The Westwood Nursery opened on site in 1977 and has provided childcare for 48 children for staff, students and the wider community since then.  We work very closely with many other departments within the University of Bath to ensure the safety and wellbeing and best possible education for children.

We have been graded 'Outstanding' by Ofsted for 3-consecutive inspections and continue to maintain this level of excellence in all that we do.

We are open between 8.30am - 5.30pm, Monday - Friday.
