The University of Bath is seeking a self-motivated Multi-skilled Electrician to undertake planned and unplanned maintenance activities in the University's academic buildings, residences, and sports facilities. This role will undertake both planned and reactive maintenance and repair tasks across the range of electrical building services, plant and equipment throughout the University estate. You will also undertake some low-level mechanical work and be expected to take part in the on call rota. 

The ideal candidate 

  • Must have completed a recognised electrical apprenticeship, be qualified to minimum City & Guilds NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification 
  • Must hold BS 7671 17th or 18th edition certificate
  • Must have relevant technical experience in larger buildings or commercial facilities
  • Should have extensive knowledge and experience in the maintenance of modern fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, LV distribution, intruder alarms, access control systems, telephone and data wiring
  • A City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing qualification is desirable
  • Good problem solving, customer service and communication skills are a prerequisite of the post
  • Either have demonstrable mechanical skills or be willing to train for them

Working in the Estates Department, who are responsible for the strategic planning, development and management of the University’s lands and buildings, you will join the Electrical Services team. In this role you will investigate, troubleshoot, locate and repair faults on both domestic and commercial services.
