Senior Security Officer

About the role

This is an exciting position at an International University based in the City of Bath for any applicant that is looking to help and support students and staff within a Higher Education setting. The position covers the main University campus and City campus buildings off site. Together with a team of security staff, the post holder is responsible for ensuring a safe environment throughout both campus and City campus student accommodation and other University Buildings. The post holder will be the operational supervisor for at least five members of staff and will act as the initial operational manager for critical and operational incidents, when on duty. The post holder will be supported by senior Security managers.  

This role is strongly customer focussed and the applicant must demonstrate an ability to perform well within a team and also be able to demonstrate the use of initiative whilst working alone when dealing with staff issues, staff development, incident and event management, emergencies, medical first aid response, alarm activations and many other reported incidents.

The applicant is required to have excellent communication skills and be able to deal with a diverse International community, providing understanding, support and outstanding customer service. You will be expected to be computer literate and able to operate a number of software packages, both bespoke to the University as well as more general software. Training will be provided if required.

The post holder must hold a full manual driving licence for manual motor cars, be First Aid At Work (FAAW) trained and hold a Security Industry Authority licence to perform their role (training can be given for the latter 2 requirements).

The basic working week is 38.5 hours which includes 36.5 hours + 2 hours contracted overtime; these hours will be worked on a shift basis generally covering 24/7 365 days of the year including weekends and Bank holidays. The position is subject to enhanced DBS check.
