We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and talented individual with the skills and experience to take a lead role in the design and implementation of the Skills Centre’s communications strategy here at the University of Bath. The aim of this strategy is to promote centrally-delivered and embedded skills provision to students and staff to increase engagement, take-up and impact at the University. You will be an experienced communications professional able to lead on a wide range of activities including the design, implementation and evaluation of communication campaigns, identification and utilisation of effective methods and channels within the University, as well as communicating key messages to boost the internal profile of skills to all. You will also play a lead role in the design and delivery of a regular skills newsletter and a skills and employability induction week for new and returning students at the start of each academic year.

Additionally, the post-holder will fulfil a co-ordinating role in helping bring together the University’s central skills providers to identify and communicate key messages to students and staff about the availability of skills development opportunities in a timely and engaging way, also supporting the ongoing development of the University’s MySkills portal to drive up levels of student engagement and usage.

You will bring a creative and rigorous approach to this exciting new role together with the organisational skills needed to bring new ideas to fruition successfully. You will be able to work independently as well as in a team, and manage a significant and diverse workload and demanding deadlines. An excellent communicator with experience of working across a wide range of media, you will work closely with members of the Centre’s Leadership Team and stakeholders at all levels across the University. 

As the successful post-holder you will join our Centre, which is a central Professional Service within the University comprising 60 staff fulfilling leadership and management, teaching, operational, technical and administrative support roles. Centre staff are located in two main locations on the University campus. You will join an Operations team of nine staff, which has lead responsibility for a wide range of areas, both strategic and operational, including marketing and communications, digital resource development, staff development and health and wellbeing for Centre staff and quality assurance and evaluation.

This post is a Part-time post working 18.25 hours per week (0.5 FTE) You will be based within the Skills Centre reporting to the Deputy Head.
