The Skills Centre (Foreign Languages) are seeking to appoint a Course Leader for the pedagogical management of its foreign language provision.

We will consider applicants with recent experience in language teaching in a Higher Education context, including blended and on-line teaching, but applications will be particularly welcomed from those with additional experience in resource management and autonomous language learning.

The Skills Centre (Foreign Languages) offers language tuition to students, members of staff and members of the general public, attracting over 2,000 students each year in its Institution-Wide Language Programme. You will join a team of 13 Teaching Fellows and work alongside another Course Leader under the leadership of the Head of Foreign Languages. A vibrant and dynamic part of the University of Bath, the Department is in the process of updating its curricula and of diversifying its offer. You will play an important role in successfully implementing the developments planned.

You will be passionate about learning and teaching in all its forms (face to face, blended, on-line and peer to peer), have a first degree in a relevant subject area and a language teaching qualification. It is essential that you have knowledge and experience in on-line curriculum design and in project management.

You will be flexible, creative, innovative and well-organised. You will have excellent interpersonal skills, a positive attitude and a strong work ethic.

An understanding of current issues in higher education and of current language learning theories and trends will be desirable.

This post is full-time (36.5 hours per week) and is offered on a fixed-term basis for a period of 24 months.

For informal inquiries about this role, please contact Isabella Stefanutti, Head of Foreign Languages.
