The Synthetic Chemistry Teaching support technician is a key position within the Department’s teaching support activities. You will be responsible for the day to day functioning of the Synthetic Chemistry teaching lab and for related safety and compliance issues primarily in the teaching lab and synthetic chemistry research labs in an adjacent building.

You will provide for the routine maintenance, operation and demonstration of various analytical instruments used in the delivery of our teaching and research activities. The successful candidate will also provide more general support for other chemistry related activities within the Department and elsewhere. You will be working with undergraduate, postgraduate students, academic and research staff to lead and provide first-class support.

The Department has an expanding and varied portfolio, providing a stimulating environment for its four distinctive areas of research.

The ideal candidate will have experience in technical support within a chemistry teaching and research environment. An interest or knowledge in spectroscopic techniques and in the application of synthetic chemistry in teaching would be an advantage.

Candidates with a Chemistry background, at degree level are encouraged to apply. Effective time-management skills and a flexible approach to work are essential.
