The Department of Social and Policy Sciences invites applications for a post at the level of Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) or Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in criminology at the University of Bath. In both research and teaching, the department is committed to pursuing a global perspective; engaging actively for justice and social change; and doing social science in new ways.

We are looking to recruit an academic who will make a significant contribution to research and teaching capacity in criminology at Bath. Candidates must have a track record or trajectory of impactful, high-quality research evidenced in outstanding publications, external engagement, and research grant capture. The post holder will also have to demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching and an ability to build and sustain a positive learning environment for students, including pastoral support.

In 2019, the department will launch a new undergraduate degree in criminology. The post holder will be expected to play a key role developing this new and exciting programme, as well as other developments in criminology. It is essential that candidates are able to teach core criminology units, and therefore able to demonstrate expertise in the broad field of criminology or criminal justice policy. We are then open to applications offering any relevant specialist subfield in criminology including crime analysis; criminalisation; international criminology; digital and internet crime; probation, policing and prisons; criminological research methods.

Please make clear whether you are applying for the Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) or Lecturer (Assistant Professor) position, and ensure you address the appropriate job description in your application.
