The Department of Social & Policy Sciences is looking for a part time Research Associate or Research Assistant to work on a GW4 project on Social Protection. The Research Associate or Research Assistant will work as part of a team of researchers based at the Universities of Bristol, Cardiff and Exeter. In addition, the GW4 universities will collaborate with the Institute of Development Studies at the University of Sussex. The Research Associate or Research Assistant will support the research plans and events of this GW4 project.  

The main purpose of this role is to:

-     Support the writing of an ESRC research grant application (open call) on social protection. The Research Associate/Assistant will be expected to do, or to support (depending upon the grade appointed) desk-based work involving a literature review; help to put together the various components of the grant, gather/analyse secondary data, or to support (depending upon the grade appointed), the gathering and analysing of secondary data for the purpose of the grant writing. 

 -     Support the organisation of two events in July and September 2019. The first will be a PGR training event on poverty research methods and social protection, and the second will be a sandpit event for the research team to work on the research proposal.

This position is a 6 month fixed term contract at 0.4 FTE, ideally starting early July 2019 although there is some flexibility. The Research Associate/Assistant will be expected to work in Bath and travel in the South West for meetings as and when required
