We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic individual, ideally with experience working in a Library or other Customer Service environment, to fill a vacancy within the University of Bath Library’s Shelving team.  This is a part-time post, working 4 hours per day in the mornings, on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

Working with other members of the Shelving team, under the direction of the Reader Services Librarian, you will be expected to sort and re-shelve books and other Library materials throughout the library building.  This role is physically demanding as you will be required to manoeuvre heavy book trolleys and lift and carry books and journals.   The post requires excellent customer service skills and you should be able to work effectively and efficiently as part of a team, in a busy Library environment.

You should also be proficient in the use of IT systems as you will need to be able to assist Library users, or resolve enquiries using the Library Catalogue.

The successful applicant will join a dedicated, professional team of Library staff committed to the continual development of services to support the University’s strategy: to deliver world-class research and teaching, extend the University’s international influence, and enrich the student experience.  We understand the importance of continued professional development for all Library staff in order to achieve this, and provide programmes of local opportunities, and support involvement in appropriate external activities.

The University of Bath is an equal opportunities employer and we positively encourage applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital status, or pregnancy and maternity.
