RIS is a busy central office providing expert knowledge, advice and assistance to all research-active academic staff within the University of Bath.

This post is an additional post to the full time Contracts Officer now being advertised.

We are looking for applicants who can provide legal and commercial contracts advice to academic and research staff as part of the Pre-Awards and Contracts Team within RIS. The post-holder will have responsibility for reviewing, drafting and negotiating formal, standard contracts with external funders and partners, ensuring that the University’s interests are protected and that an appropriate balance is achieved between benefits and risks to the University by agreeing acceptable contractual obligations.

Applicants must be educated to degree level (a law degree would be an advantage) and have a sound knowledge of contract analysis and negotiation, plus experience of dealing with research-related contracts in a higher education or major research body.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrable ability to deal with a range of legal documents, paying close attention to detail, are required.

The ability to work as part of a team and a high level of organisational skills, in order to prioritise and manage a heavy and varied workload, are also essential.

The post is offered at 0.5 FTE (working hours of 18.25 per week)

For an informal discussion about the post, please contact Dr Alison Evans, Head of Pre-award and Contracts (email: adsaje@bath.ac.uk or telephone 01225 383350).
