University minimum probationary requirements

The University's Academic Staff Committee has agreed that lecturers on probation should complete a programme of sessions within the Pathway to HEA Fellowship for probationary lecturers.

The minimum University probation requirements for completion depend on your contract and/or role and is for staff working more than 0.4FTE. For more details, see the University’s academic career progression document and Quality Assurance code of practice statement (updated versions available shortly).

Exemption from probationary requirements regarding Pathways to Fellowship

In certain circumstances, probationers can make a claim to be exempted from the requirement to complete the Pathways to Fellowship scheme if they already have an appropriate Fellowship award.

Such staff are still encouraged to engage with the Pathways scheme for their ongoing professional development and to take advantage of the opportunities for support in their new teaching context at the University of Bath.

To apply for exemption, the probationer must submit an exemption form with any associated evidence to acdev@bath.ac.uk for consideration by the Pathways Scheme Lead.

For the wider probation requirements, Lecturers (T) will need to have Senior Teaching Observation and Lecturers (R&T) will need to attend the Research Sessions and have a Senior Teaching Observation, even when exemption is granted.
