Role

Gordon is currently completing ILM level 5 coaching qualification and a recent formalised coach, having used techniques borrowed from coaching as a manager for many years.

Coaching UoB staff has been within the following areas: PhD Students, early career individuals, new managers

Research

Particular areas of interest in relation to coaching:

Individual and team dynamics, performance development and helping individuals find answers to their situations. Gordon is particularly interested in challenging established thoughts and processes to help coachees to see things from different aspects. This is frequently achieved by the use of different tools and analysis of the results.

Career

Gordon is responsible for the Computing Services teams maintaining the primary University systems such as Agresso, SAMIS, iTrent, Archibus, Business Intelligence etc with additional responsibility for the University’s IT Security, Software Licensing, Business Continuity and IT Project and Portfolio Management.

Gordon moved to his current role in November 2017 from Assistant Director (User Services) where he looked after the Service Desk, IT Support, AV & Classroom Support, IT Purchasing, Assistive Technology and the IT Literacy & Communications teams. Gordon joined the University of Bath in 2015 from the University of Reading where he had held various roles in the IT Department. Gordon has previously worked for Henley Management College, a small IT Company and ran his own company in the entertainments industry.
