Emily Richards Business Engagement Manager (Humanities & Social Sciences)

Emily develops stakeholder relationships for the Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences for placement opportunities, alumni relations and business engagement.


Emily works with stakeholders including businesses, not-for-profit organisations, alumni and research funders for undergraduate and postgraduate placement and employability opportunities. She assists the Dean in international research delegations to partner institutions and supports the University’s strategy to develop its presence internationally, particularly in Europe and West Coast USA. Emily has developed the Faculty’s long-term commitment to the global One Young World Summit, sponsoring students to attend the event since 2013 and has provided financial and practical support for the student-led One Young World Bath conference. The Summit aligns closely to the Faculty’s teaching and research themes and to the University’s overall objective of empowering young people to become future leaders committed to creating positive social change. Bath is the only UK Higher Education institution to consistently support the event, along with influential world leaders and global organisations.


Emily has worked in professional services for the University for fifteen years and prior to the Business Engagement role, led the Faculty’s Marketing, Communications & Web team. Before returning to her home city of Bath, she worked in sales and conference management in London and Sydney for sectors including online learning, real estate, information security, mobile commerce and broadcast media.


Emily is a Chartered Marketer with CIM postgraduate qualifications in Marketing and Digital Marketing. She holds a BA (Hons) in Social Policy and Criminology from the University of Hull.
