Dr Izaro Lopez Garcia Business Partnerships and Knowledge Exchange Manager
Providing advice and guidance to academics on business-led research.
Izaro is responsible for establishing and managing partnerships between academics and companies. His role includes:
- facilitating relationships with business
- identifying and promoting funding opportunities, including Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) and other Innovate UK schemes
- supporting the process of securing business funding
- overseeing business partnerships when funded

Izaro has experience of the EU funding landscape from working on different projects. More recently, he was Innovation Manager and Project Coordinator at Fundació Ticsalut. Previously he was responsible for the commercial department of Fundació Barcelona Media, commercialising ICT solutions across different sectors. He was also an EU Funding Consultant for three years at Organisol, providing assistance to Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) and Research and Technology Organisations (RTOs) for EU funded projects.
His areas of knowledge include nano-materials and nanotechnologies, composites, ICT, healthcare, applied mathematics and policy. He also has some experience in commercial strategy planning, entrepreneurship and market opportunities.
Ízaro holds a PhD in Soft Condensed Matter Physics and an MSc in Radiation and Environmental Protection Physics, from the University of Surrey.
