Tim Kaner Chief Marketing Officer

Responsible for the University's overall marketing function including the management and development of the University brand.

Role

Tim Kaner was appointed as the University’s first ever Chief Marketing Officer in June 2019.

His focus is the enhancement of the University’s national and international reputation, contributing to its financial sustainability through the delivery of effective marketing activities.

He has responsibility for the development of the University’s overall marketing function and the related strategic planning and communication of these activities. This includes the management and development of the University brand, ensuring that all marketing activities reflect this brand, and its associated vision, purpose and values.

He joined the University of Bath as Director of Marketing & Communications in 2012.

Career

Immediately before to coming to Bath, Tim worked as a branding and marketing consultant across industry sectors, including consumer goods, energy, financial services, healthcare and telecoms.

He spent over a decade at Sony Europe, where he was Director of Marketing Communications for Sony’s consumer electronics business. He then led their European Marketing Strategy Office with a mission to help build a more customer-centric sales and marketing culture.

He started his career in advertising.

Education

Tim has an MBA from the Open University. He also holds an MA from Pembroke College, Cambridge, where he was inter alia President of the Junior Parlour and a member of the University Challenge team.
