Lily Rumsey Director of International Relations

Responsible for the strategic leadership of the International Relations Office, enabling the delivery of the University’s Internationalisation Strategy

Role

The collective priorities for the International Relations Office are:

  • identifying our external and internal relationships to aid our collaborative working in order to grow our international reputation
  • providing excellent customer service - student experience being at the heart of what we do
  • showcasing the outputs of the International Relations Office

Career

Lily has worked in Higher Education since 2009, previously holding positions within the International Offices at the University of Salford and Liverpool Hope University. She also held a Sessional Dance Lecturer position at Liverpool John Moores University and was President / Vice President Activities of Liverpool Students’ Union. Lily has travelled to over 40 different countries and has lived and worked overseas in the USA and Australia.

Lily is also currently a member of The International Centre for Higher Education Management (ICHEM)

Education

Lily is a qualified secondary school teacher specialising in PE, Sport and Dance. She holds an MA in School Sport Management with a strong focus on gender stereotypes in Dance. She is currently in her fifth year of study for her EdD at the University of Nottingham, investigating the Saudi student experience and the role of UK HE institutions. Following Amartya Sen’s Capability theoretical framework, her thesis is currently entitled ‘Saudi women’s experience of a UK Higher Education utilising the Capability Approach’.
