Professor Marcelle McManus Elected by Senate from its members

Will undertake the responsibilities of members of governing bodies as set out in the CUC Guide for Members of Higher Education Governing Bodies in the UK.

Career

Professor Marcelle McManus is co-director of the University’s Centre for Sustainable and Circular Technologies, a Research Director of the Industrial Decarbonisation and Innovation Centre and is a member of the University’s department of Mechanical Engineering. Her research focuses on novel and innovative ways to decarbonise energy, materials and manufacturing over the whole life. She is interested in wide sustainability, ensuring a solution to carbon does not cause undue impact elsewhere. She has won University awards for her teaching and supervision, was a joint recipient of the IMechE George Stephenson Medal for work on life cycle impacts of wind turbines, and has won the FDM Everywoman Academic Prize (2020) and the West Awards most Inspirational Woman in STEM.
