Nicholas researches the links between HR practices and business performance.

Research

My principal research interests lie in exploring the links between HR practices and business performance in a variety of organisations including professional service firms and outsourced telephone call centres. This has involved extensive empirical research in private and public sector organisations on a series of projects mostly sponsored by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. Most recently this has involved a two year research project examining the links between managing people and managing knowledge in a series of professional service firms in the UK and the US. This research has been published in a variety of academic and practitioner publications and presented at various international conferences.
