Katy McKen Head of Research Policy and Information
Responsible for making sure information about the University's research is accurate, accessible and effectively used.
Role
Katy McKen is responsible for:
- making sure that the information we hold about the University's research is accurate and accessible
- ensuring we use our research data effectively to maximise opportunities for funding
- the development and implementation of research information systems, such as Pure
- leading the development and production of strategic research management information for the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research)
Katy also leads the operational planning and programme management of the University’s submissions to national assessments of research and enterprise. These include REF2014 and the Higher Education Business and Community Interaction Survey (HEBCIS).

Career
Before joining RIS, Katy was Centre Manager of the Centre for Research in Strategic Purchasing and Supply (CRiSPS) in the School of Management. She managed the Centre's portfolio of research and education.
In 2014 Katy was seconded to the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) as Panel Advisor for the assessment phase of REF 2014.
