Professor Keith Stokes has established strong partnerships with stakeholders in Rugby Union and other sports to investigate injury risk in sport and to develop and evaluate strategies to reduce injury risk. He also has a strong interest in the prevention of frailty in older adults.
Keith has published over 70 articles in journals such as the British Journal of Sports Medicine, Sports Medicine, American Journal of Sports Medicine, International Journal of Sports Physiology and Performance, and the Journal of Applied Physiology.
He's supervised more than 15 PhD students to completion and attracted over £3 million in external funding from agencies such the Rugby Football Union, The RFU Injured Players Foundation, World Rugby, United Kingdom Sports Council and BBSRC.
He's also the editor of the International Journal of Sports Medicine and is on the editorial board of PLoS ONE and Advisory Board (Biological Sciences) of the Journal of Sports Sciences.
Keith is a Fellow of the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. In 2013, he received a University Knowledge Exchange Award in partnership with the Rugby Football Union.
Professor Keith Stokes holds a PhD from Loughborough University.
