Laura Massa International Mobility Coordinator (Turing)

Laura is responsible for queries relating to the University’s study abroad and exchange activities, particularly the Turing Scheme.

Role

Laura is responsible for coordinating and administering all aspects of the University’s study abroad and exchange activities with a particular focus on administration of the Turing Scheme, the UK’s global programme to enable study and work opportunities abroad. Laura provides support to the Mobility Team, and acts as a point of contact for students, staff, partner institutions and external bodies dealing with enquiries and providing guidance.

The collective priorities for the International Relations Office are:

  • identifying our external and internal relationships to aid our collaborative working in order to grow our international reputation
  • providing excellent customer service – student experience being at the heart of what we do
  • showcasing the outputs of the International Relations Office

Career

Laura began her professional career teaching English as a Foreign Language in Italy and in the UK. After developing an interest in Special Educational Needs, working as a Teaching Assistant and a Dyslexia Tutor and Assessor, Laura went on to qualify as a Modern Languages teacher and taught French and German at an international online school. Laura joined the University of Bath in January 2022 as part of the IRO, attracted by the possibility of working with international mobility and promoting study abroad, which she feels is a tremendous opportunity for students’ development and progression.

Education

Laura is a qualified secondary school teacher specialising in Italian, German and French. She holds a BA in English and German from the University of Naples “L’Orientale”, Italy and an MA in Italian Language and Culture for Foreigners from the University of Bologna, Italy. She is a CELTA qualified teacher and holds a PGCert in SpLD/Dyslexia from the University of Birmingham.
