Marilyn Osgathorpe International Partnerships Manager (Research)

As a key figure in advancing the University of Bath’s internationalisation efforts, Marilyn strengthens the University’s engagement on a global level.

Role

By collaborating closely with our academic community and Research and Innovation Services, Marilyn helps drive the university’s ambitions to increase international research activities, identify new opportunities and to facilitate the development of international collaborations. In her role, she oversees the implementation of the university’s Internationalisation Strategy, working with academic and professional leaders to ensure the integration of internationalisation across the institution. Marilyn's priority regions include, but are not limited to, countries in East and Southeast Asia.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing partnerships, networks and alliances overseas.
  • Promoting ownership of collaboration initiatives.
  • Supporting and coordinating academic and non-academic partnership activities.
  • Representing the International Relations team both internally and externally as needed.

Career

With over a decade of experience in higher education and the private sector, specialising in global event management, Marilyn excels in developing international collaborations and managing cross-cultural partnerships. Before joining the University of Bath, she held several key positions at the University of Plymouth, including Postgraduate Student Experience Manager and TNE and Articulations Manager. In these roles, Marilyn played a pivotal role in enhancing student experiences, advancing transnational education initiatives, and overseeing partnerships with international academic institutions. Additionally, she has contributed to higher education as an Associate Lecturer and brings a strong background in language teaching and cultural awareness training.

Education

Marilyn studied at the University of Plymouth, where she earned a Master’s degree in Marketing Management and Strategy. She is currently completing a Professional Doctorate in Education (EdD) at the same institution. Prior to this, she obtained a BA (Hons) in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language from China.
