Lord Christopher Tugendhat IPR Advisory Board member
Lord Tugendhat is the Former Chancellor of the University of Bath and former EU Commissioner.
Christopher Tugendhat was Chancellor of the University of Bath from 1 December 1998 until his retirement on 1 August 2013, giving 14 years of outstanding service to the University.
Lord Tugendhat is a member of the EU Select Committee and Chairman of its sub-committee on EU External Affairs and was Chairman of the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust until December 2011.
He is a former Chairman of Abbey National plc and of Blue Circle Industries plc. At an earlier stage of his career he was a Vice-President of the European Commission and before that a Conservative MP.
He began life as a journalist with The Financial Times and is the author of several books, most recently A History of Britain Through Books: 1900 - 1964, published in 2019.
Lord Tugendhat was educated at Ampleforth College and Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge, of which he is an Honorary Fellow. He has been awarded an Honorary Doctor of Laws by the University of Bath and an Honorary Doctor of Letters by UMIST.
