Ashima Sangwan SETsquared Innovation Advisor

Providing advice and guidance to scale-up companies and academics on business-led research.


Ashima is part of the Scale-Up Programme, run by SETsquared. She is responsible for establishing and managing partnerships between academics and companies. Her role includes:

  • supporting scale-up companies (businesses employing 10 people or more, and growing 20% year on year either in number of employees or turnover from the last three years) to accelerate their growth, by developing collaborative R&D partnerships with academics
  • highlighting the university's research strengths and capabilities to industry and facilitating relationships with industry
  • identifying and promoting funding opportunities, including Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) and other Innovate UK schemes
  • supporting the process of securing industry funding


Ashima has over 10 years’ experience in Innovation Consulting, with a demonstrated history of working in the management consulting industry. She has experience of managing a portfolio of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SME’s) and large corporate clients (UK and international). This includes Coca-Cola, Philips, GlaxoSmithKline, Hewlett Packard & Unilever, to help them identify and acquire innovative technologies for their New Product Development and Innovation Programmes.


Ashima holds a MSc in Biotechnology and Enterprise and a BSc in Life Sciences from the University of Manchester.
