Career

I am a final year Politics and International Relations student. The reaction to that statement from most people is ‘Oh… so you’re going to become an MP?’ Fortunately, for the sake of my dignity, that is definitely not on my radar. I like studying politics because the more you learn the more you realise you know very little but at the same time want things to change.

I have returned to Bath following a placement year at a leading public affairs agency in London, that works with companies such as Microsoft, Sainsbury’s and Haribo. The agency helps clients with their communication, reputation, and relationships within the political, media and investor landscape. I have gained significant experience in research, monitoring, briefings, account management and events organisation. The placement experience has given me the skills, knowledge, and contacts for my future career prospects.

I became a Student Employability Coach as the world of job applications, interviews, and careers both scared and excited me. I love being able to help students on their applications and being able to resolve certain challenges they face with their future careers. I also work within Campus Services, so you may also see me lurking around in an accommodation hub reception on campus or in the city. I’ve also worked several hospitality jobs before and during my university degree, so I completely sympathise with those delicately balancing their time.

Outside of my studies and work, I enjoy spending time on my health and fitness, whether that be at the gym, training for the Bath Half or an early morning yoga class. I am also involved with Bath University’s Student Theatre Society where I’ve acted and produced in plays. I am directing my first play in the second semester of this academic year, so do please come along to see The Caucasian Chalk Circle in March 2025.
