Career
Hello! I am Maddie, a Psychology Student in my second year with a passion for cognitive neuroscience. I am particularly fascinated with understanding the brain and hope to pursue a career in research in this field. However, I am excited to explore all the opportunities my degree may lead to! Currently, I am undergoing EEG training as part of a research apprenticeship, which I am very excited about.
Becoming a Student Employability Coach resonates with my core values, as I thrive on engaging with diverse personalities and supporting others in their employability journey. I'm passionate about empowering other students to achieve their career goals and aim to be a supportive resource they can turn to, even if it's just to ease their mind along the way.
Before this role, I held a managerial position in retail, which gave me valuable insight into what employers look for when reviewing CVs and conducting interviews. Being on the other side of the application process helped me understand it better, and I’m passionate about showing others that it doesn’t have to be as daunting as it seems. Additionally, having gone through assessment centres for law, I experienced the extensive application processes first-hand. Although I chose a different path, I hope to share the knowledge I gained with others pursuing a career in law and similar sectors.
Alongside my studies I am a bit of a hobby hoarder— sometimes it’s hard to keep up! I’m part of the Bath University Pole & Aerial Society, where I love to unwind with dance, one of my favourite activities. When I’m at home, you’ll usually find me crocheting, reading, writing poetry, learning Spanish and Japanese, or dabbling in music production (though I tend to procrastinate on that one!). You can also bet I’m squeezing in some travel between semesters to satisfy my wanderlust and take a break from studying!
