Alexander Robinson Student Governor
Will undertake the responsibilities of members of governing bodies as set out in the CUC Guide for Members of Higher Education Governing Bodies in the UK.
Career
Alexander Robinson was born in Sidcup, Bexley. He was educated at Chislehurst and Sidcup Grammar School, where he was appointed House Captain in his final year. In 2022, he graduated from the University of Bath with a BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering. During a year in industry, he worked for a structural design consultancy in Bristol and then undertook a research placement in sustainable concrete reinforcement at the University of Applied Sciences, Augsburg, Germany.
He is President of the Students' Union for the 2022-23 academic year, with a portfolio including communications, governance and finance.
Whilst at the University, Alexander undertook a considerable number of roles, including as the Students' Union Media Officer, a volunteer position which championed the student-run media outlets: the Campus Radio Station, URB; BathTime Magazine; and CampusTV. He also holds an Engineering Leaders’ Scholarship from the Royal Academy of Engineering (ELS Cohort 26).
Alexander has been a Trustee of The SU since November 2019 and is now managing the recruitment of its next Chief Executive as Chair of the Board. He is also an elected Trustee of the National Student Television Association.
As well as being a student governor of Council, Alexander also routinely attends Finance and Nominations committees and is a member of the Remuneration Committee.
