Professor Veronica Hope Hailey read History with Politics as an undergraduate at the University of York. She began training as a Chartered Surveyor, but soon realised she was much more drawn to the people, businesses and strategy behind a sale rather than the physical structures. A move to the marketing and fundraising department of an international NGO followed, with a rapid rise to a management role.
With the beginning of family life, which would eventually see her raise five daughters, Veronica opted to go back into academia. She studied for an MSc in Management at Aston University Business School followed by a PhD at Manchester University researching Organisational Change in the Life Insurance industry. She then began work as a management consultant, which continued to expand alongside her academic career in the 1990s and 2000s.
