Project Leader: Dr Lana St Leger, Health

This project, which was awarded funding by the Teaching Development Fund (TDF) Seed, aims to achieve a student experience which otherwise would not be possible with regards to developing networks, employability skills (to include problem solving, communication and disseminating ideas), and meeting possible future employers. Students will have the opportunity to engage and network with industry professionals who are working in sports performance.

The sports performance networking event will enable students to engage and network with industry leaders to hear about relevant real-world issues which are aligned to units which they are studying. Organised as a networking event, this project will be an opportunity to students from the FD Sports (Sports Performance) and BSc Sport (Sports Performance) to discuss and interact vertically (years 1-3), whilst also feeding into a formative task. The project content/guest speakers will directly link to core units which students will study in their respective years and learning from the event will be translated into a formative assessment task of which they will submit later in the semester. This formative assessment will be constructively aligned to the respective unit outcomes, and relevant proposed units in the transformed curriculum and support the development of student assessment literacy. This project is proposed as a pilot event, whereby we hope to evaluate the effectiveness of the event with the potential for expansion on a university wide level to engage students with practitioners and align this to unit learning outcomes and assessment.
