Research unit for Water, Environment and Infrastructure Resilience

We investigate the broad issues of water research related to civil engineering. Climate change and water energy shortage are key drivers for our research.

Our research

Our activities are grouped into four key research areas.

Natural hazards research

We are developing new tools to better understand and predict the magnitude and frequency of natural hazards and extreme events.

Infrastructure resilience research

civil engineers work on laying a foundation

We research infrastructure resilience to environmental change by measuring and modelling the impact of extreme events on engineering structures.

Study with us

We welcome postgraduate research students to work with us.

About us

We are a group of academics and researchers tackling civil engineering challenges related to water. Our research aims to:

  • inform and improve the adaptability and resilience of built infrastructure
  • to help improve water security
  • speed up the progession of using renewable energy from the sea and water
