The Bath Beacon in Zero-Carbon Offshore Power invites Expressions of Interest from researchers who would like to be hosted at the University of Bath as a MSCA (Marie Skłodowska Curie Actions) European Postdoctoral Fellow.

The MSCA European Postdoctoral Fellowship call is now open for applications from researchers of any nationality for research at any institution within Europe.

Applicants should submit a two-page outline of their research project, including how its links to the Beacon, and a two-page CV to Dr Anna Young (amy32@bath.ac.uk) by 4pm on 14 July 2022.

Applications will be assessed by a panel comprised of Zero-Carbon Offshore Power Beacon members. Selected candidates will work with the host and support services to develop their application.

About the Zero-Carbon Offshore Power Beacon

The Zero-Carbon Offshore Power Beacon is a network of researchers at Bath who are addressing the challenges associated with large-scale deployment of wave, tidal and offshore wind power.

Our aim is to generate a future-focussed design philosophy that encompasses both technical performance and environmental impacts. The work will inform government policy and industrial practice as the next steps are taken towards net-zero.

Our team brings together experts in the technical, financial and environmental aspects of renewable power from across the Faculties of Science and Engineering. Through our members, we are connected to national and international networks in the marine renewables sector (e.g. PRIMARE, Supergen ORE Hub, GW4 Net Zero Network).

Research by Beacon members includes the following themes relating to the large-scale deployment of offshore power:

  • quantification of the resource and of its variability

  • understanding and reducing lifetime Carbon emissions

  • grid integration with substantial market penetration

  • environmental impacts and benefits

We welcome applications from researchers who would like to develop their research related to these four themes.
