​​​Dr Therese Fish, a recent graduate from the Bath DBA, has received the prestigious Chancellor's Award from Stellenbosch University.

The award recognises her decades-long contribution to Stellenbosch Medical School, where she is Vice Dean. Therese, a former medical doctor, first joined the university as a lecturer in the Business School before moving to her current role in 2006.

She was nominated by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Professor Jimmy Volmink, who praised her analytical and technical skills, as well as her ability to balance the demands of higher education and the health system.

He also acknowledged her contribution to social justice, equity and transformation, claiming that she has "courageously challenged the status quo to align with Stellenbosch University's institutional commitment".

Rajani Naidoo, Director of ICHEM congratulated Therese on the award, and praised her thesis, citing its relevance and importance to society.

"Well done Therese! And what a well deserved award. Therese’s work throughout the DBA has been outstanding, linking scholarship with practice for social impact. Her thesis supervised by Christos Vasilakis and Dan Davies, identified key factors leading to the success of inter-institutional networks in meeting equitable health goals and will be highly relevant to current health and wellbeing challenges"
