1st Impressions- the charity co-run by staff in our School of Management to help women create confident first impressions at interview - has settled into a new boutique home at Fairfield House in Bath for its wardrobe of clothes, shoes and accessories and stylist support. The charity has helped 16 women this year to prepare for interview, many going on to successfully secure work, including Ukranian refugees. Viktoriia, pictured, recently visited the charity’s Fairfield House boutique, and is now interview ready.

Women who need help with outfits, advice on what to wear, and building confidence for interview can make an appointment to meet a friendly stylist, try on outfits and together decide which feels best. Interview coaching can be arranged for the final step in feeling confident.

"We're so grateful for the support we've had from women who have been glad to donate pre-loved clothes - knowing that they are playing a part in empowering other women in their own lives," said charity co-founder Dr Jane Ellis-Brush. "Our focus now is on reaching out to women to let them know we are here. We have some great students onboard volunteering their time to help us with exactly that – getting the message out to more women that we’re here to help them create their best first impression."

The charity is linking with local organisations including JobCentre Plus, to reach women who could benefit, from all sorts of backgrounds including carers, mums returning to work, women with learning difficulties and those who have escaped domestic abuse.
