Thank you again to everyone who took time to complete our first annual Climate Action survey. We have had a fantastic response including a whopping 33% of staff, and 11% of students covering every faculty, department and demographic in the University.

We’ve been working hard analysing the results, and hope to share some of the headline findings with you shortly. With the response rates we have, these results are meaningful in helping to guide the University of Bath’s action on climate going forwards.

Whilst we finish analysing the results, we wanted to congratulate the winners of the survey prize draw who have each received one of £250 vouchers for Airbnb, £50 voucher for a local Michelin listed restaurant, £25 voucher for Picturehouse Cinemas or a voucher for Thermae Bath Spa.

  • A very happy Rockhill Focho, International Mobility Coordinator from the International Relations Office, offered our favourite response: “Yaaay! Thank you very much! I am so pleased to learn that I have won a £250 Airbnb voucher in the Climate Action Survey. Caring about our environment with actions to combat climate change is something that is very dear to me so I appreciate this gift even more.”

  • Dan Clifford, a Programme Administrator from our Doctoral College said of his £50 voucher to a local Michelin listed restaurant: “Thanks Scott – that sounds great! I’ve just had a look at the sample menu online and I’m looking forward to it.”

  • Phoebe Nobel, a PhD research student in Electronic and Electrical Engineering said of her Picturehouse voucher: “I’m hoping to take my mum out to the cinema when she comes to visit me in Bath, she loves arthouse films.”

  • Madiha Islam, a BSc (Hons) student of Politics and International Relations said: “I will probably take a friend out to the movies this weekend.”

  • Ninon Talote, our Year Abroad Manager from the School of Management said: “I will use the voucher for a date night with my partner at the Picturehouse Cinema. It has been ages I haven't been to the movies, and Picturehouse Cinema is a lovely venue with a nice atmosphere.”

  • Isabelle Santhiapillai, a BSc (Hons) student of Mathematical Sciences said, “Thank you for this, the voucher worked and is very much appreciated!”

  • Sol Goodall, a BSc (Hons) student of Economics said: “I will be using this voucher at the Bath Spa to revitalise myself before a busy final year at University!”

  • Eliza Dwyer, a MEng (Hons) student of Chemical Engineering said: “I thought it was a very good questionnaire and found selecting answer very stimulating. I hope you had lots of interesting responses.”

  • Alex Allsop, a Programmes Administrative Assistant in the Faculty of Engineering and Design said: “I'll be treating myself and my wife to a relaxing dip in the spa after Christmas!”

We hope all of the staff and students use these vouchers to relax and take a break from these recent challenging times, and we look forward to seeing even higher response rates in our next annual Climate Action survey.

The annual Climate Action survey is part of the ongoing Climate Action programme as we work towards our Net Zero Carbon by 2040 targets. For more information on Climate Action at the University see here.
