Following the most recent update from the Prime Minister, while it is fantastic news that life is starting to ease, we wanted to let our patients know that unfortunately, life in dentistry is not changing and to ensure the safety of our staff and patients we must continue to follow the NHS guidelines.

One of those guidelines we have to follow is those who require more urgent care must take priority. While we do appreciate that what may seem like an emergency to you, unfortunately, may not class as an emergency under the NHS guidelines. If this is the case, you will be added to a waiting list.

The NHS guidelines do mean we are unable to see the same amount of patients as we were before COVID. As a result, it is taking us longer to catch up and start seeing routine appointments.

Whilst we completely understand how frustrating it is to not be able to book a routine appointment, please remember we have over 2000 patients who are overdue their exam and only one surgery. We have currently suspended the 24-month rule so please do not worry about “dropping off our books” this will be suspended until further notice. However, please be warned that our failure to attend and late cancellation policies are more important than ever now and are still active so if you do have an appointment booked with us please ensure we have 24 hours notice if you need to cancel this appointment.

As a team, we are constantly discussing new ideas to improve the flow of the dental practice which will enable us to see more patients whilst staying within the current NHS guidelines. When we are able to offer routine appointments reception will contact you. Until then, please continue to be patient with us and thank you for understanding.

Kind regards Jane, Verity, Linzi, Ann & Cath
