Tina Kimfumu, from the University of Bath’s School of Management, is celebrating an IT industry award, named Woman of the Year for Consultancies & Integrators.

The awards, hosted by Computing, recognise top-performing women from across the technology sector and are designed to provide inspiration for younger women looking to build their careers in tech, and signal the importance of continuing to push for more female representation in senior roles.

Tina is a Graduate Research Scholar at Bath, combining her studies with her position at KPMG as Assistant Manager in People Consulting-Learning Services, and as Corporate Social Responsibility Lead for the African and Caribbean Network.

Her research is focusing on the future of work, exploring the impact of hyper connectivity on work and wellbeing.

“I am proud and humbled to be amongst such talented and innovative finalists; being awarded Woman of the Year is an absolute honour that will serve as the fuel of motivation and inspiration, to continue impacting current and future generations. I’m driven by knowing that what I do is bigger than me. This is my raison d'etre,” said Tina Kimfumu.

The judges commended Tina for the difference she is making to her organisation, and her ‘shining testimonials’. They described the special nature of the award ceremony this year, highlighting how women across the technology sector led the response to the Covid-19 pandemic, facing unprecedented challenges at work and home.

PhD supervisor Dr David Ellis said: “This is a fantastic achievement and reflects the wealth of experience that Tina brings to her doctoral studies at Bath. I am in no doubt that such successes will continue as her research develops in the coming months and years.”
