There is an opportunity for two Fellows or Lecturers to serve on the IAG for up to two years, working with colleagues including the Chair, Professor Sarah Hainsworth, Pro-VC (Research), Associate Deans for Research and professional services as well as external members from the business community and funders.
The Group ensures that institutional impact acceleration funding is used to support activities which drive knowledge exchange, innovation and impact, underpinned by a culture of inclusivity and responsible innovation.
The purpose of the role is to:
- provide experience of committees for staff at the early stages of their career
- for the IAG to benefit from the diversity of experience that ECR members contribute to the group
The role would suit candidates with an interest in knowledge exchange (KE) and research impact, and may be of particular interest to ECR staff who have had KE or Impact-related funding in the past, or been involved in projects of that type.
Candidates from protected groups are particularly encouraged to apply.
Expectations of the role
As an active Member of the IAG, you will:
- attend quarterly meetings (approx. 2hrs each, with up to 1hr preparation time), where possible, and occasional extraordinary meetings or related activities, as needed
- contribute to discussion and decision-making about impact-related funding programmes, activities and processes, and identify opportunities to improve their delivery, where possible
- review funding applications for IAA awards (usually once or twice per year – note that you may need to reserve around 1 working day to review applications for larger rounds), and monitor their progress
- maintain confidentiality, declare any conflicts of interest and adhere to necessary actions to ensure actual or potential conflicts are managed appropriately
