Further to the changes to the Power BI Service announced in April 2022, an additional change is coming to enhance our data security and governance.
Downloading data and sharing reports with external people
To help ensure you don't accidently share Power Bi reports with someone who shouldn't have access to it, if you have an Admin role for Power Bi reports you will need to request access for new and existing external people from the 1 September.
In this instance, an external person means sharing the report with someone whose email address doesn't end in @bath.ac.uk.
If you have already shared a report with an external person, their current access will stop. You can easily arrange new access by following the steps below.
This change relates to the Power BI Service only. Most University reports are published on the Power BI Report Server which is not affected.
Requesting access for external people
If you are have an Admin role for a Power Bi report and need to share your report with an external person:
- Please request access via the TOPdesk Self-Service portal.
- A member of the Business Intelligence Team will contact you to discuss your requirements.
- The Business Intelligence Team will authorise the external person so they can access your Power Bi report.
